Top doc ‘raped woman’

A HEART swap surgeon raped a woman colleague and sexually assaulted others, a court heard yesterday.

Mohamed Amrani was convinced they would stay silent because of his senior position, it was claimed.

The 53-year-old worked at the Harefield Hospital, west London, where he is said to have carried out the attacks between 2001 and 2014 – including groping breasts.

In one case he raped a woman in his office, the Old Bailey was told.

Peter Clement, prosecuting, said: “These were sexual assaults upon five separate ladies.

“All were committed in the workplace and all committed by this defendant against colleagues but colleagues subordinate to the senior post this defendant held.”

Amrani, of Harrow, north-west London, denies the charges.
