Ben earns his Spurs
® BEN DAVIES insists he never feared for his Tottenham future – even while sitting on the bench.
Wales defender Davies has mostly played second fiddle to Danny Rose since signing from Swansea in 2014.
But the full-back has enjoyed a decent run in the team for the past two months after Rose suffered a knee injury.
And his impressive form was rewarded with a new four-year deal earlier this month.
Davies, 23, said: “Of course you get that feeling in football when you want to play every game you can.
Winning
“But at a club like Spurs, we’re only going forward as a team and I’m learning a lot as a player and improving with the manager that we’ve got.
“So for me, as a player, there’s no better place to be other than Tottenham with the quality of players around us and the success we’ve been having.
“We’re winning games, playing well and learning a lot as a team.”
Davies has been starring in an unfamiliar left wing-back role in Spurs’ 3-4-3 formation.
He added: “I’ve played in a three with Wales and then wing-back at Spurs and I’m probably more comfortable playing in the inside three.
“But if the manager wants me to play there, I’ll do a job wherever. I think I’ve put a decent shift in.”
