Joel to slay Anfield jinx

-

derby at Anfield last April. It was 4-0 but it could have been much more as Liverpool wasted chances and passed the ball around for fun in the latter stages, with the Kop mocking those in blue.

“Yes, obviously after the game the dressing room was so sad,” said Robles. “Now we need to think about the present – the past doesn’t matter.

“It is the best moment for winning at Anfield. I know it is a long time but we are positive.

“The past is impossible to change now and the most important thing is the present and we are ready for winning at Anfield.”

Former Wigan keeper Robles started the season as second choice but ripped the No.1 shirt off Maarten Stekelenburg when the Dutch keeper got injured in the first game between the sides.

That was another defeat for the Toffees as the Reds nicked a late winner and the Blues are without a derby win since 2010.

But Robles gets his optimism from the fact that his boyhood club, Atletico Madrid, also went through a tough run, having failed to win against rivals Real from 1999 to 2013.

Robles was at the Spanish club for a chunk of that time and was still on their books when they ended the run in the 2013 Copa Del Rey final.

He added: “We had the same problem but when Atletico thought positive they had more chance

to win.”
