NO SWAN-HIT WONDER
PAUL CLEMENT insists his initial impact at Swansea is not wearing off.
The Swans have lost their last two games, to relegation rivals Bournemouth and Hull.
But Clement (right) refuses to believe his side’s good post-Christmas form was due to new-manager bounce.
The Swans boss said: “I haven’t changed anything from what I did at the start to now.
Magic
“The training intensity, the way I communicate with the players, it’s the same kind of thing. We work on details and we work on the fundamentals.
“There was no magic when I first came in and there won’t be next week or the week after.”
Swansea have climbed out of the relegation zone since Clement took over at the start of the new year.
The former Bayern Munich and Real Madrid assistant has shored up the league’s leakiest defence, which was breached too easily under his
by JACK BACON predecessor Bob Bradley. Swansea host fellow strugglers Middlesbrough tomorrow, with the managerless Teessiders just five points behind the Welsh club.
But Clement insists the clash with 19th-placed Boro is not a must-win game.
He added: “The squad sense the importance of this game. I wouldn’t say it’s a must-win because what happens if you don’t win? Is the season over? No, of course it’s not.
“We would still have eight games and they are games, home or away, where we can get points.
“The fact that we won at Liverpool means we can always look back and say, ‘We can go anywhere and get a result’.”
