SINGER Mo Adeniran’s win drew the worst-ever ratings for The Voice final.

Only 3.6million viewers tuned in on Sunday to see him beat Into The Ark for the title.

They are the lowest figures the show has had for a finale in its five years on the box and a major blow for ITV.

Bosses had hoped that after grabbing the talent series off the BBC, where it had aired since 2012, it would become a major hit for them.

But its first year on ITV has led to disappointing ratings.

Even when The Voice was on the Beeb, its finals secured 7.8m viewers in 2012 when Leanne Mitchell won, and 5.1m last year when Kevin Simm was crowned the champion.

Sunday’s show, which was hosted by Emma Willis, was also fraught with problems. Sir Tom Jones accidentally swore live on air and ITV had to apologise.

The singing legend was heard to use the F-word when he was shocked to find out his duo Into The Ark had made it into the final two against Mo.

Bundled

And then an audience member invaded the stage with a banner, protesting that “positive thinking and creativity” were being stifled by the media.

He was being bundled off by minders.

The Voice coach will.i.am claims the ratings do not reflect the true picture.

Black Eyed Peas star Will, who has been on the show since the first series, said TV chiefs should add the number of his followers who watch via the clips he posts on Twitter during broadcasts.

The wacky rapper said: “If you look at the stats on previews, YouTube and Twitter engagement, I bet the figures were higher than in past years.

“Rarely are people at home watching TV any more.”
