NEIGHBOURS warned police about five “crazy” dogs before they rampaged through streets.

Armed officers had to kill two of the “pitbull-type” animals and caught two others.

But they have warned the public that one beast is still on the loose.

The man believed to be their owner, 38-year-old Daniel Hennessy, has been arrested on suspicion of affray and allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control in a public place.

Former neighbour Yakub Adam, who claims he lived next door to the out-of-control animals in Bolton until they and their owner were evicted, said he feared for his and his children’s safety around them.

Scared

He added: “The dogs were very, very aggressive and we were all very scared.

“It got to a point where we were scared to go outside at all.

“After making several complaints to the police and council, and also keeping a weekly report and submitting it to the council, they finally got rid of him from the property.”

A photographer who claims to have snapped the dogs last year in a photoshoot, described two of them as “aggressive” and “stressed”.

The 24-year-old, who did not want to be named, said: “The owner didn’t seem bothered and he laughed about one being grumpy and a bit aggressive.”

She claimed the owner had bragged about breeding the dogs.

One of the bitches tried to attack her and looked visibly distressed having recently had her puppies taken away from her.

The photographer said: “She shouldn’t have been away from he puppies at all, and you could see she was just so stressed.”

She also believes one of the animals killed – a white dog thought to be named Bonnie – was pregnant with pups when she was shot by police.

The dogs were allegedly spotted running loose around Queen’s Park near Bolton town centre without leads or muzzles moments before going on the rampage down a street. Shocking images show terrified shoppers defending themselves with metal chairs and desperately calling to the owner to drag his dogs away.

A woman, believed to be in her 40s, suffered a bite to her hand during Sunday’s incident, while a man suffered injuries to his legs.

A police spokesman said the number one priority for officers was to protect the public and prevent them from harm.
