Sort it out Shaw

- By MIKE WHALLEY

GARY NEVILLE insists Manchester United outcast Luke Shaw is a sensational talent but must sort himself out to save his Old Trafford career.

The Red Devils left-back looks set for a summer exit from United after being savaged by manager Jose Mourinho last Saturday.

Mourinho left the England defender out of the squad that faced West Brom and claimed afterwards that Shaw,

(right) was “a long way behind” his rivals for a first-team spot in terms of commitment, focus and ambition.

Former Reds captain Neville worked with Shaw while part of the England coaching set-up and believes that the defender is strong enough to prove Mourinho wrong.

And he urged the full-back, 21, signed from Southampton for £27m in 2014, to follow the examples of team-mates Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Chris Smalling by fighting his way back to form.

Neville said: “The harshest possible comment that could probably have been levelled against you is that you don’t train hard enough and Jose has levelled that at Luke.

“I’ve worked with Luke for two or three years with England. This is a sensational talent, who’s got many years in front of him. “He’s had injury problems, which I think are his biggest problem. “Jose has said some harsh things about a few players this season at times, not just Shaw, and others have responded. “He’s got to respond. This is it now. He’s at Manchester United, he’s got to make it work. You don’t want to leave that club.

“He’s a big signing, a great talent. Don’t have regrets at the end of your career is what I’d say.”

Shaw has not played for United in exactly a month, having struggled to regain form since breaking his leg in two places against PSV in 2015.
