Dele’s the Real deal

- by JAKE BACON

DELE ALLI has been told he is good enough for Real Madrid.

The 20-year-old England star’s sparkling form for Tottenham this season has caught the attention of the La Liga giants.

And Swansea chief Paul Clement – a former assistant boss at the Bernabeu – is sure Alli could handle the switch.

Clement, who coached some of the world’s best players during his time alongside Carlo Ancelotti in Madrid, said: “Why can’t Dele make the step up? He’s still so young.

“All the best players get linked with Real Madrid, Eden Hazard is another one.

“But if these teams want to do well and challenge for trophies, they’ve got to try and keep their best players.”

Alli has scored 17 goals already this season – and Clement insists the midfielder will continue to attract the

attention of big clubs if he maintains his current form.

He said: “Like any player, the more consistent you are, and you’re challenging at the top, then you’re going to be of interest to arguably bigger clubs.”

Swansea face the task of keeping Alli quiet at the Liberty Stadium tomorrow. The youngster has scored in three of his last four league games, firing Spurs’ hopes of chasing down Chelsea in the title race.

But Tottenham have been hit by the news Harry Winks’ season is over.

The 21-year-old midfielder has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign, playing 33 games in all competitions – more than Harry Kane.

He was stretchered off on Saturday after challenging Burnley’s Stephen Ward.

Winks landed awkwardly before careering into the Spurs dug-out, falling on top of a drinks container.

Boss Mauricio Pochettino said: “He twisted his ankle – we need to see the scan and then start his recovery.”

Victor Wanyama, who went off with a back injury, may be fit to face Swansea.
