TEEN asylum seeker Reker Ahmed, almost killed in a brutal “racist” mob attack, shows how proud he is to be in Britain by wearing a Union Jack T-shirt.

AN asylum seeker battered by a “racist” mob shows how proud he was to be living in Britain after being pictured in an England top.

Teenager Reker Ahmed showed off the red sports shirt and also wore clothing displaying the Union Jack in images released yesterday.

It came as the Kurdish Iranian revealed his injuries as he was seen for the first time since he was almost beaten to death by 30 thugs.

Reker, 17, can be seen on a hospital bed showing his bruised face, with two black eyes and a drip in his arm.

Shocked

He also suffered a fractured spine, skull and eye socket, as well as bleeding on the brain, when he was set upon at a bus stop in Croydon, south London.

Just 30 minutes earlier he told pals he felt “lucky to be living in Britain”.

Police are said to be treating the assault as racially motivated.

Last night his cousin Omed Ahmed, 29, said Reker’s mum Khanzad “fainted” and was taken to hospital when she heard her son had almost died.

A total of 16 people have been arrested and 13, including a 15-year-old boy, charged with offences including attempted murder and violent disorder.

The Metropolitan Police say they are still looking for three “key individuals” in connection with the attack.
