YOU could be owed a hefty tax refund by HMRC if you have to pay to travel to work out of your own pocket. RIFT Tax Refunds are ready and waiting to get any money you are owed – you can make a new claim from April 6. In fact they do it all for you. The new tax year starts on April 6 and for those who are in the know, this is the best time to get tax refund claims in, whether you are employed PAYE or on the construction industry scheme (CIS). If you travel to temporary work sites – such as building sites, for example – in your own vehicle or using public transport and pay some or all of the cost, it’s likely the taxman owes you money. In fact there’s around £180 million owing to people sitting at HMRC – but they won’t send it automatically, you need to claim it. For PAYE employees the average annual refund is £600-800. And if you haven’t claimed before, RIFT can look at the last four tax years, which means you could get a refund of around £2,500.

CIS? You can claim too! The average CIS claim is £2,000 per year.

As experts in construction industry tax refunds, the RIFT team has already reclaimed over £153million for more than 63,000 workers nationwide.

Answer

If you’re put off making a claim because you don’t know where to start or don’t want to deal with HMRC, RIFT Tax Refunds have the answer: they’ll sort everything out and talk to HMRC on your behalf.

Even better there’s no up front cost. You are only charged a fee if you’re due a refund and decide to make a claim. Lucian Florea, 22, a carpenter living in London, received a refund of almost £3,000 after RIFT completed his tax return. “I have been self-employed for two years and I first heard about RIFT when my housemate used them for his tax return,” he says. “One of the RIFT team came on-site and completed my tax return during my break.

“After a few weeks I got a cheque through for £2,951.40 – I didn’t even know I could claim for using public transport to get to work at the various sites I have been on.

“The money came just in time and I now plan to buy my first car with my refund.”

Bradley Post, Managing Director of RIFT, says: “Our friendly team sort everything out for you – we can complete online, on the phone or in person, it’s your choice. We help you get back what’s yours today.”
