Spurs ace Ben warns Blues
BEN Davies says Tottenham can still beat Chelsea to the Premier League title.
Second-placed Spurs trail the Blues by seven points with eight games to go.
But Mauricio Pochettino’s men showed they are up for the fight with a sensational last-gasp comeback to win 3-1 at Swansea on Wednesday.
And defender Davies said: “There is always a chance of catching Chelsea. If they do slip up then we have to be on their tails to catch them.
“Every game until the end of the season is not going to be easy, but if we can grind out results like we have been doing, then it’s great.”
Team-mate Jan Vertonghen added: “Chelsea are looking very strong but we can’t stop pushing and dreaming of
the league. They had a big win but they have a couple of difficult games coming up. “We have to keep winning and hopefully they get a bit stressed. “Teams are thinking about us now if they’re talking about league wins or top four. Before it was that Tottenham will finish fifth or sixth. “I don’t know what is necessary to win the league – maybe a bit of luck – but I think this group has massive quality and is very special. “We were missing five players at Swansea who normally start. “But the other guys fit in and we’re a very strong squad who can beat every other squad in the Premier League.” Spurs missed out on the title last season after imploding in the final few weeks of the campaign.
But Davies believes they are made of sterner stuff this time around.
“In the end, when you’ve got people like Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen in your team, players that can make something out of nothing, it pays off,” said Davies.
“Games like Swansea show we’ve matured as a team from last year.
“These games can be tough and to come out of it with a win is great.
“There is a good group of players at this club.
“There are a couple of years left in us, so I’d like to think we could compete. But you never know. Our aim is just to kick on every year.”
