nd in g have been sacked by now. Arsenal are breathing down his neck in the race for a Champions League spot and if City miss out, there should be serious questions asked with the money they’ve spent.

People now say Guardiola needs time. But he hasn’t learned from any of his mistakes. Joe Hart is still the best goalkeeper Manchester City have – and he’s playing in Italy.

Forcing your defenders to take unnecessary risks at the back is still inviting pressure; Aleksandar Kolarov is still not a centre-back and Jesus Navas is certainly not a full-back.

Lesser teams know that all they have to do is press City high and eventually they will cough it up and let you in.

Sometimes you have to hold your hands up and admit when it’s not working.

City have a nice run-in but Arsenal could still catch them. If Liverpool don’t sort themselves out defensively I still think they can be caught, too. Tottenham have kept the title race alive with those late goals at Swansea. You could see from the way they celebrated that they still believe they have a chance. And if they win their early kick-off at home to Watford today, they can close the gap to four points and put some pressure on Chelsea. I still don’t think they can win it though. They have to go to West Ham on a Friday night and if that is the only game the Hammers win to stay up they will be happy. Chelsea’s run-in does not look that hard and they’ve just won their toughest game by beating City, so they are still clear favourites. I said from day one I fancied them to be champions. If they do it, manager of the year should only be going to one man – and that’s Conte.
