GET OUT ROSS!

Go South, fans beg bar brawl Prem ace

- by ANDREW JAMESON

FOOTBALL stars and fans are begging Ross Barkley to quit the city of Liverpool to save his career.

The Everton midfielder was decked in an “unprovoked attack” at a club in the early hours of Monday.

Police yesterday quizzed the player over the incident as they continue to probe the assault, although they are yet to make any arrests.

But concerned fans last night shared fears his talent could be derailed by distractions in his hometown as he attracts “the wrong kind of attention”.

They reckon Barkley’s game could nosedive if he continues to be threatened by gangsters and thugs.

Some Everton fans have urged him to seek a move away from their club as Manchester United and Spurs are linked with the England ace. One wrote on an Everton fans’ forum: “A move down south might do him the world of good!”

Tipped for greatness with England at an early age, Barkley, 23, has been accused of stagnating as new stars have emerged for the Three Lions.

And Barkley’s fellow pros also think a move to another part of the country could reboot his career.

Stoke City’s Charlie Adam said: “Does he need a change? Maybe he does. Maybe he needs to get out of the city.”

CCTV footage of the attack at Santa Chupitos was circulated on social media. Barkley escaped serious injury and made it to training the next day.

The bar staff member who leaked the footage has been sacked.

Notorious gangster Sam Walker, who has previously threatened to end Barkley’s career, said he deserved it.

He accused Barkley of “trying to blag the lad’s bird” before he was punched. andrew.jameson@dailystar.co.uk
