Sorry, Corrie!

-

CORRIE has been snubbed by the “telly Oscars”.

The show didn’t get a single nod when the TV BAFTA nominations were announced yesterday.

In the soap and continuing drama category Casualty, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks are all in the running.

But Corrie was ignored despite regularly being Britain’s No1 soap in the ratings.

It’s the second major snub for the show after it also missed out on a nomination at the RTS Awards earlier this year.

The TV BAFTAs, on May 14, will see the biggest shows on the box fight it out for prizes. Ratings hits including Strictly and Britain’s Got Talent are up for the entertainment programme gong.

Netflix drama The Crown topped the list with five nominations and bookies are tipping it for success on the night. It is favourite to win best drama and best actress for star Clare Foy.

Coral’s John Hill said: “The betting suggests The Crown is set to have a good night at the BAFTAs as not only is it oddson to scoop the Best Drama award, Clare Foy is the favourite to win the Best Actress prize for her role as Queen Elizabeth II.”

The only award voted for by fans is the one for TV’s must-see moment.

Nomination include Dot Cotton’s exit in Line Of Duty, Ed Balls performing Gangnam Style on Strictly and snakes chasing iguanas on Planet Earth II.

THE MOST NOMINATIONS GO TO…

The Crown – 5

Damilola, Our Loved Boy – 3

Happy Valley – 3

Fleabag – 3

National Treasure – 2
