De Gea a Real concern

-

Champions League qualification this season would damage his hopes of keeping De Gea.

In the meantime, the United boss is worried news Real boss Zinedine Zidane has made De Gea one of his top targets is affecting his No.1 keeper.

De Gea was less than convincing in recent games against Everton and West Brom. He also missed Sunday’s 3-0 win at Sunderland, with Mourinho claiming he wasn’t fit.

De Gea is expected to sit out tomorrow night’s Europa League clash in Anderlecht as Mourinho prefers to go with Sergio Romero for the quarterfinal first leg.

Praise

One United player who insists he has no problem focussing on the job in hand is left-back Luke Shaw.

Shaw is back in the fold and keen to impress after his future was thrown into doubt after Mourinho publicly questioned his commitment, focus and ambition.

The England defender has responded positively to the criticism and was singled out for praise by Mourinho after the victory at Sunderland.

He said: “I’ve taken on board what the manager said and I’m trying to impress him because I just want to keep working hard in training and playing as many games a I can.

“I’ve got a massive smile on my face because I feel good, I’m confident and really fit. I want to be here and hopefully I can carry on giving great performances until the end of the season.”
