Cops called over demands for cash
MARRIAGE-split star Mel B is caught up in a sex blackmail plot.
Her thug husband Stephen Belafonte – who she is divorcing – has begged police to protect him from a secret ex-lover’s crazed threats and demands for a “huge sum” of cash.
MEL B’s husband Stephen Belafonte has called in police over a blackmail threat.
The movie producer says an exlover threatened to spread abuse rumours about him. He told police the woman threatened to make false claims that he attacked and beat her like he allegedly did with Spice Girl Mel. Belafonte, 41, said the woman admitted the claims she was willing to make were completely untrue. But she boasted her abuse stories would be so compelling it would back up everything Yorkshire-born Mel B has said about their stormy 10-year marriage, according to a police source yesterday. The woman said “people would believe her given Mel B’s domestic violence allegations”. The only thing that would stop her going public would be a huge sum of money, said the source in Los Angeles Police Department.
Mel has won a restraining order against her husband, claiming he got their nanny pregnant and used Mel’s money to pay for an abortion, beat her regularly, demanded she have threesomes and threatened to release sex tapes of her.
Mel, 41, has also won a restraining order against the former nanny, German-born Lorraine Gilles.
The America’s Got Talent presenter and her lawyers called in police to help search a storage locker rented by Lorraine.
Mel claims it is full of illegally-filmed footage of her forced romps with her ex and other women, plus boxes of Spice Girls memorabilia.
A judge gave permission for her to search the locker at a storage unit in Los Angeles.
At first security guards barred her but changed their mind after she went to nearby Hollywood police station and asked for help. Officers assisted in the search. But the former X Factor judge left empty-handed after apparently finding nothing. Belafonte denies all his wife’s allegations.
