EX-SAS soldiers will guard Premier League football stars on an IS “death list”.

Top players such as Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney are already upping their security after the Borussia Dortmund attack.

A letter found after Tuesday’s bus bombing claims sports stars “in Germany and other crusader nations” are on a “death list of the Islamic State”.

Security expert Will Geddes, who runs the International Corporate Protection agency, said: “They will be former SAS or SBS (Special Boat Service), that is the sort of level we are talking about.

“Most of the security is arranged by the clubs, and they are pretty well rehearsed in setting everything up so the players can be as safe as is humanly possible.

“But some players also have their own security in place, and these include protection by ex special forces. They are among the most professional money can buy, SAS and SBS guys.

“This security will be from these regiments, the best of the best.

“The clubs are very well tuned in to everything that GERMAN Chancellor Angela Merkel was under fire last night after it emerged the chief Dortmund bombing suspect was an IS member who sneaked in last year. Prosecutors said there ® is going on, and are being kept up to date at all times.”

Troops were in Brussels last night for United’s clash against Anderlecht, which finished 1-1 without incident.

But French side Lyon’s Europa League tie with Besiktas was delayed for 46 minutes as Turkish fans threw fireworks at home supporters, forcing them to flee onto the pitch.

It comes two days after three explosions injured Spaniard Marc Bartra and shattered windows on Dortmund’s bus before their Champions League tie. was no evidence that Iraqi Abdul Beset, 26, had taken part in the explosions. But angry Twitter users asked: “How’s that ‘refugee’ opendoor policy working out for you Mama Merkel?”
