DECLINE AND FALL (15) (DVD from Monday) „„„„ IT isn’t the first time Jack Whitehall has played a hopeless teacher. But this is a world apart from BBC Three’s sitcom Bad Education.

It’s a colourful adaptation of a classic comic novel from the 1920s in which Jack’s mild-mannered character Paul Pennyfeather, kicked out of Oxford University, ends up teaching at a shambolic public school in Wales.

Eva Longoria, pictured right with Jack, plays the pupil’s mum he soon finds himself falling in lust with. Other stars include David Suchet and Douglas Hodge.
