Leipzig blow it
LEIPZIG missed the chance to cut Bayern Munich’s lead at the top of the Bundesliga to six points when they could only draw 1-1 at Schalke yesterday.
A win for Leipzig would have had Bayern looking over their shoulders. With four games left the Munich giants have gone four games without a win after being held at home 2-2 by Mainz on Saturday.
Bayern were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid in midweek and had to come from behind twice, with Arjen Robben and Thiago cancelling out an early strike from ® Bojan and a Daniel Brosinski penalty.
Celta Vigo, who play Manchester United in their Europa League semi-final first leg a week on Thursday, slumped to a 1-0 home defeat to Real Betis yesterday.
Lazio scored the fastest five goals in a Serie A match since Juventus in 1938 as they thrashed Palermo 6-2 with a six-minute Keita Balde Diao hat-trick.
Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi scored a hat-trick, too, but his side still lost 5-4 at Fiorentina to dent their European qualification hopes.
