BUTT HAS SPRINT CUP AT HIS MERCY

SKY are showing the final of the Bresmed Northern Sprint at Sheffield tomorrow.

Last year’s Derby finalist HIYA BUTT (9.08) got stuffed good and proper in the first round. but then won his semi impressively.

He appears to be back to his best. If that is the case, he would be a worthy favourite.

The Three Steps to Victory winner GEELO SAPPHIRE (7.43) returns to the scene of her most prestigious triumph. Her Three Steps run was only the second time she has gone over six bends and she seems suited to the extended trip.

CORRIN MALL (8.36) has won at five different tracks in his 16-race career, including Nottingham where he runs tonight. He can make up for his Poole Golden Crest semi-final defeat from an ideal draw.

KILDALLON BOLT (9.22) hasn’t won since last October, but that win was at Colwick Park. He met trouble at the first and third bends last time out but a clear run tonight should see him record his first win of the year.

BLACK TARANIS (9.02) has an ideal draw at Romford. Blessed with blinding early pace, Ernie Gaskin’s dog can clear Newlawn Adam on his inside and get to the bend in front of the field. He should dominate down the back and stay on strongly.

NEWLAWN JUMBO (9.17) is well worth backing in graded company and his future probably lies on the open-race circuit.
