YES, KOP CAN GO FOUR IT

Stupid error is not fatal

- by CHRIS McKENNA

EMRE CAN says Liverpool have to win their last four games to clinch a top-four place after a “stupid” defeat by Crystal Palace.

The Reds slipped up on Sunday to open the door for Manchester United to crash the Champions League party.

United are three points behind Jurgen Klopp’s side with two matches in hand, though one of those is Thursday’s trip to Manchester City, who are also chasing down Liverpool.

Can said: “We have to look forward. We have got to go again and it is still in our hands.

“If we win the last four games, we will reach the Champions League.

“Some of the other top teams will play against each other and we will give it our best. Four straight wins has to be the target. It has to be.

“The next game is Watford (Monday) and we want to win there.”

Liverpool were undone by a Palace counter and a corner as Christian Benteke bagged a brace against his former club to cancel out Philippe Coutinho’s opener.

Training

Can added: “Everyone is very disappointed because we should have won. We had the chances. It was stupid from us. Again it was a set-piece.

“We had worked on them in training. All the set-pieces in training we had done very well. But again we concede a goal after a set-piece. It was stupid.”

A draw in the Manchester derby would be the worst result for Liverpool as it would leave both City and United in a position to overtake the Reds if they won their games in hand.

Can is in no doubt who he will be supporting when Jose Mourinho’s men go toe-to-toe with Pep Guardiola’s side.

Can said: “Is that the better result? A City win? Then I am for City!

“One of the top teams will drop points and that is a good thing.” ¬Ê STRIKER Daniel Sturridge has picked up another hip injury and will not be fit for the Reds’ final four games of the season.
