SMIRK OF A JERK
‘Wannabe Jihadi’ in new Westminster terror alert
DRAMA: Police swoop A TERROR suspect armed with seven knives was stopped in his tracks by fearless armed police yesterday.
The 27-year-old man smirked as he was pinned against a wall yards from the Houses of Parliament.
His arrest came only five weeks after the terror carnage on nearby Westminster Bridge.
A TERROR suspect carrying seven knives was seized by police in London’s Westminster yesterday.
The man was tackled by armed officers near the scene of last month’s attack in which five people died.
Several fearsome-looking knives spilled out of the bearded suspect’s rucksack as he was pinned against a wall and then forced to the ground.
The unnamed 27-year-old smirked as he was taken away by counter-terrorism officers.
The suspect, who is believed to have been under surveillance, was walking towards Whitehall and Downing Street when officers swooped at Parliament Square. Passerby Ian Grant, 56, said: “I saw a police ® car go flying by. Then an armed cop with a rifle came past me. He shouted ‘Armed police, stop’ and they got this guy down.
“He just put his hands up and stopped. First there was one, then two police, then they all came from nowhere.” Police may have been tipped off by the man’s family, it was being reported last night.
The drama unfolded yards from the scene of last month’s attack when Khalid Masood mowed down pedestrians in his car and stabbed PC Keith Palmer to death.
Prime Minister Theresa May said: “It shows our police and our intelligence and security services are on the alert.”
