Weigh to go, Josh

- by CHRIS McKENNA

ANTHONY JOSHUA weighed in a massive 10lb heavier than Wladimir Klitschko ahead of tonight’s Wembley showdown.

The IBF heavyweight champion puts his title on the line against the Ukrainian with the vacant WBA strap also up for grabs.

Joshua, 27, weighed in yesterday at a career highest 17st 12lb 2oz while his 41-year-old rival came in at his lightest since 2009 at 17st 2lb 6oz.

The Brit said: “I think it’s just destiny. I’m meant for this. I’m built for this. Let’s say we

strip away what you just said, the excitement, hype and just put us together.

“Go at it for 12 rounds, get down and dirty.

“All I have to do is make this fight as easy as possible. With boxing, you seem to enjoy it afterwards. If I see the opportunity I will go for it.

“He’ll probably start fast because he won’t be able to keep up the pace.

“Father Time is a genetic thing, it’s something no one can deny – it’s just part of life.

“I don’t think he’d be able to cope in my training camp. Around 2005 was the good, sharp Wladimir, throwing more punches.

“Hard work has to become smart work as you get older.

“I’m more hard work than smart work, that’s why I don’t mind fighting Wladimir. If it gets tough, I’ll slug it out.”

Klitschko said: “I just have this feeling – this is my night. It’s a big step for AJ.

“He hasn’t fought this type of quality of fighter.

“It’s going to be challenging for him – but for me as well.”
