Lowe: It’s not all Rover yet
BLACKBURN skipper Jason Lowe wants more of the same to help Tony Mowbray’s men beat the drop next weekend.
Danny Graham’s secondhalf strike earned Rovers three crucial points against a terrible Aston Villa side to breathe fresh life into the Ewood Park club’s relegation battle.
In the last match of the season next Sunday, Rovers need to better the results of Birmingham and Nottingham Forest to escape relegation to the third tier for the first time in 37 years.
Lowe believes Blackburn can do it but only if they turn up and fight against Brentford in the same way they did on Saturday.
He said: “This was a very good victory – we knew we had to win and it will come down to the final day.
“Everyone gave 110 per cent and we have certainly not lacked that throughout the season.
“Hopefully there will be a few more twists and turns and they will go in our favour.
“But we need to show the same level of performance in what will be a high-pressure game.”
Lowe set up Blackburn’s goal after 54 minutes when he intercepted a terrible pass from Nathan Baker and put in a pinpoint cross which Graham swept past Sam Johnstone.
Graham’s strike was the only high point in what was a truly dreadful encounter and Aston Villa should refund their fans after their showing.
Manager Steve Bruce was raging after the loss, which saw Jonathan Kodjia stretched off with a twisted ankle.
Bruce said: “That was nowhere near good enough.
“That’s a huge disappointment for me going forward and going into the summer there’s work to be done.”
