Fired-up Walt eyes revenge
WALTER MAZZARRI wants his Watford players to avenge the biggest thrashing of his career.
The Italian, 55, has bossed eight clubs in a 16-year career.
Those include Euro giants Inter Milan and Napoli as well as tiny Acireale and Pistoiese.
But none of them suffered a six-goal spanking like the one Liverpool dished out to the Hornets in October.
Tonight Mazzarri finally has a chance for payback and can dent Liverpool’s Champions League hopes in the process.
He said: “The heaviest defeat of my career before then was when we lost 5-1 to AC Milan when I was at Sampdoria.
“I actually feel very bad after every defeat, I don’t sleep that night. If I lose 1-0 I don’t sleep for one night. If we let in six I don’t sleep for six nights! That’s how it is – every goal is a missed night.”
Mazzari says his players should be desperate to wipe out the memory of their 6-1 Anfield horror.
He said: “There is nothing personal in football for a manager. We just think about our team.
“But it is clear that if I were a Watford player I would give more than I generally would because this is pride.
“If I were a player I would give my best because of my pride.”
Midfielder Valon Behrami and defender Craig Cathcart will both have late fitness tests.
