RASHFORD IN CHEAT STORM

- by IAN WHITTELL

MARCUS RASHFORD landed himself in a cheat storm after being accused of taking a dive to win a penalty. The Manchester United striker tumbled despite keeper Lukasz Fabianksi pulling out of a challenge on him (left). Swansea boss Paul Clement said: “Maybe cheat is a word

I’d use another time but on this occasion I think he deceived the ref.

“I looked at the reaction of my players and they were furious so that puts doubt in your mind.

“The ref seemed to have some doubts because there was a big delay and I spoke to him afterwards and he said he was only receiving confirmation from his assistants.

“It was a mistake. He went down way before there was contact.

“You can say he dangled his leg to make contact but he actually went down before that. The keeper pulled out of it.”

Crisis

United boss Jose Mourinho was more worried about the growing injury crisis which is in danger of derailing his bid to win the Europa League.

Mourinho’s men face Celta Vigo on Thursday in the first leg of their semi-final without a single fit central defender and missing seven first-team regulars.

Eric Bailly and Luke Shaw both came off injured yesterday.

“We lost players and we lost points, so yes today was a bad day,” said Mourinho. “I think Luke Shaw’s must be a big injury because to leave the pitch after 10 minutes I am expecting a very big injury.

“At the moment, we cannot walk from the bed to the toilet without breaking a leg.” Report: See pullout
