WILLIAM and Kate yesterday demanded £1.3m compensation over topless photos of the Duchess taken on holiday.

The shots of the couple sunbathing caused the Royals huge damage, a court heard.

PRINCE William and Kate have demanded £1.3million from photographers who took topless pictures of the royal babe, a court heard.

Six people are on trial in Paris over saucy snaps taken during the couple’s holiday in France.

Wills and Kate’s lawyer, Jean Veil, said the Royals want the huge compensation plus “significant fines”.

In a statement to the court, the Duke branded the decision to publish the images of his wife “particularly shocking” given his late mother’s battles with the paparazzi.

Princess Diana died in a Paris tunnel car crash in August 1997 as her driver tried to get away from photographers.

Mr Veil said the photos of Kate baring her breasts on a hotel terrace had caused huge damage to the Royal Family. The couple were at a chateau when the pictures were taken in 2012.

Laurence Pieau, the editor of French Closer, Ernesto Mauri, chief executive of the Mondadori group which owns the magazine, and Cyril Moreau and Dominique Jacovides – two Paris-based agency photographers suspected of having taken the topless images – are charged with invading her privacy and complicity.

They all deny causing any damage and say the snaps were taken from a public place. Both photographers also claim that they did not take the photos, with Closer refusing to say who was responsible.

Marc Auburtin, the paper’s publishing director, and photographer Valerie Suau also face trial.

A verdict is expected later this year.
