RON: I’M NO ALIEN

Hat-trick hero in Real world

- by PAUL BROWN

CRISTIANO RONALDO was out of this world for Real Madrid again this week – but insists he is from Planet Earth.

Ronaldo scored a sensational hat-trick against Atletico Madrid to help his side put one foot in the Champions League Final.

He has now scored more goals in the competition than Atletico ever have. But despite his heroics, he says he is only human.

Ronaldo said: “With dedication and hard work, like always, things come very naturally.

“I am happy, I feel very lucky and I am from this planet.

“It was a game full of emotions. The team was phenomenal and to score three goals made it a special night.”

Ronaldo is one goal away from scoring 400 for Real, despite the club claiming he has already hit the landmark.

Real credited him with a goal in a 2010 win over Real Sociedad that deflected off Pepe and was awarded to the defender.

Asked about his goalscoring, Ronaldo said: “It is something very special. It is a huge amount of goals and I never expected it.

“It is the fruit of the work of the whole team, of my work, the work of all the people who work in the club and the fans, who always support us.”

Ronaldo scotched talk that he could one day make a return to the Premier League, where Manchester United would welcome him back with open arms.

Jeers

The 32-year-old, who is under contract at Real until 2021, said: “It is always an extra motivation to play for this shirt.

“I feel very happy and I want to try and give my best in the remaining years of my contract, score goals and make sure Real Madrid can win titles.”

Ronaldo has been subjected to jeers and whistles from some ungrateful fans this season but was given a standing ovation at the Bernabeu.

He said: “I just want them not to whistle me! I will always try to give everything for them.”
