SLICK SILVA PLAYS SAFE

Move talk on hold for Marco

- By JASON MELLOR

MARCO SILVA insists he is fully focused on the battle to beat the drop – not his future as Hull boss.

Silva is close to pulling off mission impossible by keeping the Tigers up after an amazing turnaround since he replaced Mike Phelan in January.

It has seen the Portuguese mooted for a move from the KCOM, with West Ham, Watford and Southampton linked with him.

Silva is contracted to the Tigers until the end of the season but will trigger a 12-month extension if he guides them to safety.

Bottom

He said: “I came here with a big motivation to do well and nothing has changed.

“The speculation is normal but as professionals we never lose our focus.”

The former Olympiakos boss took over with the club bottom of the table.

However, the 39-year-old has led the Tigers to eight wins from 19 games.

Hull are two points clear of third-bottom Swansea with three games left going into the visit of relegated Sunderland tomorrow.

Silva is also attracting interest from abroad.

Asked if he sees his future in the Premier League, he added: “I only see my future tomorrow, preparing the team well for the game.”

Swansea manager Paul Clement, whose side host Everton tomorrow, is keen to avoid a possible play-off against Hull.

If the teams finish third and fourth bottom and level on points with the same goal difference and goals scored, they will meet at a neutral venue to see who stays up.

He said: “We want to try to avoid that but I’d take it rather than going down.”
