Who's Gunner stand up?

-

IF ARSENAL lose at home to Manchester United on Sunday and effectively end their Champions League qualification hopes, chances are their players will go missing again.

The Gunners have become notorious at not manning up off the pitch, never mind on it.

After their 2-0 loss at Tottenham five days ago, there was not a player to be seen to speak to us reporters about a fifth league away defeat in six games, in which they have conceded 15 goals.

It’s become typical of the club to disappear after a poor result – and occasionally it’s not been that easy to chat to a player after a good one either. You have to question boss Arsene Wenger’s decision to have a skipper in Frenchman Laurent Koscielny who does not talk to the press here.

Maybe his English isn’t good enough?

Also, there has been so much talk about the futures of stars Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, but not a peep from either of them, unless, of course, they have been away on international duty.

Poor Theo Walcott dared, after skippering in the recent 3-0 defeat at Crystal Palace, to confess that the Eagles “wanted it more”.

Wenger was furious at the winger daring to be so honest and has largely frozen him out since. What is that all about? Like it or not, the fans deserve to hear from the players whose huge wages they help to pay – whatever the result.

So if Arsenal do lose on Sunday, how about someone fronting up for once?
