REDWATER has been dubbed “the new Broadchurch”.

The six-part show is nothing like EastEnders – even though it has Kat and Alfie in it.

Viewers will see Kat head to Ireland to hunt for her long-lost son.

In 2015, EastEnders fans saw her learn that when she gave birth to daughter Zoe she passed out and unknowingly also had a son.

He was adopted without her even knowing he existed and taken to a place called Redwater.

Now, more than 30 years on, she is desperate to find him.

Shane has dubbed the series “the new Broadchurch’’ as not only do Kat and Alfie have secrets but the families they meet in the village have plenty to hide too.

Creator and former EastEnders boss Dominic Treadwell-Collins tells Radio Times: “This is Shane and Jessie giving their best Broadchurch.” ALFIE and Kat are one of TV’s most-loved couples after 15 years on the box.

And off-screen Shane and Jessie are just as close. Shane, who was wed to Coleen Nolan, joked: “This marriage has lasted longer than any of my real ones!

“We’ve got each other’s backs in terms of personal stuff. There’s stuff we will be taking to our graves.”

But they have also fallen out, with Shane adding: “We were doing a play in Edinburgh and before we went Jessie said: ‘I can’t find my passport for Scotland.’”

Jessie said: “Shane called me an idiot so I didn’t talk to him all week!” Family Affairs,
