RELEGATED Sunderland are looking to rake in over £40m in summer sales, with in-demand keeper Jordan Pickford’s exit set to raise more than half that figure.

The Black Cats are £137m in debt but the financial blow of losing Premier League status will be cushioned by £40m in parachute payments and raising a similar figure in the transfer market.

Manager David Moyes would love to keep England prospect Pickford.

But he knows that with a host of Premier League clubs keen on him, the 23-year-old, who he rates in the £30m bracket, will almost certainly move on.

Centre-half Lamine Kone will also be sold, with former Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce keen to be reunited with the Ivory Coast star at Crystal Palace.

A £10m bid is likely to seal a deal, providing Palace stay up, and Allardyce could also go for Wahbi Khazri.

Scottish champions Celtic have emerged as shock contenders to land striker Fabio Borini.

Moyes plans to sit down this week with the nine players who are out of contract.

Veteran John O’Shea wants to stay on Wearside, while youngster George Honeyman will also be offered a new deal. Striker Jermain Defoe will trigger a clause in his contract which allows him to move on a free transfer.
