Soap denies troubled star is returning

EASTENDERS has ruled out a return to the BBC soap for troubled actress Danniella Westbrook.

The cocaine-battling star claims she’ll be back this year, but sources insist: “It’s not going to happen.”

EASTENDERS bosses have snubbed Danniella Westbrook’s hope of returning to the soap.

The troubled star said on ITV’s Loose Women yesterday that she has come off her medication for mental health issues and now planned to be back in Albert Square as Sam Mitchell.

She told the panel: “There’s a big chance of me going back into EastEnders. I’m going to be back there at the end of the year.”

But a BBC insider said last night: “There are no plans for Danniella to return – it’s just not going to happen.

“It’s very odd that she keeps harping on about her return because it has plainly never been discussed.” Danniella, 43, appeared on Loose Women after spending a month in rehab in Spain to help her to kick a long-standing cocaine addiction.

She had also sought help to cope with the stress of a miscarriage last year.

Danniella said she had weaned herself off the medications she was taking for borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder and paranoid schizophrenia.

She told the Loose Women panel: “I was sick of being sick and walking around like a medicine bottle, taking tablets for this, taking tablets for that.

“So I’ve come off every bit of medication that I’m on.

“I’ve been on medication for bipolar since 2001, and I think a lot of it can now be done holistically and with therapy.”

Last night an EastEnders spokesman said in an official response to the Loose Women claims: “There are no plans for Danniella to return.”
