WE’LL NEVER GIVE UP

-

KEITH Bennett’s family last night said they will not give up hope his body will be found.

Lawyer John Ainley, who represented Keith’s mum Winnie and is now working for his brother Alan, wrote to the killer two months ago begging him to “look at his conscience before it was too late”.

But Brady did not reply and took the secret of where on Saddleworth Moor he buried Keith in 1964 to the grave. Mr Ainley said: “I had written to him several times asking for meetings so we could look at photographs, maps and plans of the area to help him to identify where Keith was buried. But he has never responded to me.

“I was asking him to look at his conscience and see if at this late stage he could impart information and that some good could come of that and the family would get some closure.

“I was just trying to appeal to his better nature before it was too late. But he failed to co-operate.’’ Keith’s mum, Winnie Johnson, died heartbroken in 2012 aged 78 after being unable to lay her son to rest despite personal pleas to the killer to tell her the location of his grave.

Mr Ainley said he was waiting to hear if any new information had been passed to police after Brady’s death. He added: “We are not giving up hope.’’

Keith’s brother Alan said on Facebook: “Thank you to everyone for your sincere words and thoughts. We will carry on doing whatever we can to bring Keith home and your support means more than I could ever put in to words.”
