Danny suffers setback

Scotland and France next month. Manchester United and Manchester City have been monitoring the full-back with a view to a potential summer swoop.

But Rose, who recently signed a five-year contract, looks certain to stay at Spurs.

A club statement read: “We can confirm that Danny Rose has undergone exploratory surgery on his left knee today.

“He recently returned to training, however, the problem has not resolved fully therefore a decision has been made to proceed to surgery.

“He will now return to action next season.”

Rose has not played since suffering the injury during a 0-0 draw at Sunderland on January 31.

Another player linked with a summer move away from Spurs is star midfielder Dele Alli.

But the 21-year-old has dropped a heavy hint he wants to continue working under Mauricio Pochettino despite being linked with Real Madrid and Manchester United.

He said: “With the manager we’ve got, I can’t see many better places for me to improve.

“It’s a fantastic club to be a part of. We’re all looking to learn together and build together and be as successful as we can.

“It’s important that I enjoy the journey, whether I stay at Tottenham for the rest of my career or one day I have to leave.”
