Jacko chimp’s film row
MICHAEL Jackson’s estate is “going ape” over a new movie about the King Of Pop’s chimp Bubbles.
Lawyers insist Netflix’s film about the chimp and a Lifetime Channel show on Jackson’s final years do not have permission.
An estate spokesman said their own films are set to honour the superstar’s legacy, with “numerous projects in development”.
Lifetime TV’s Searching For Neverland, based on a 2014 book written by Jackson’s bodyguards Bill Whitfield and Javon Beard, comes out later this month.
Netflix is working on an animated film told through the perspective of Bubbles, dealing with his owner’s life and his relationship with children.
Bubbles was present at some of the craziest moments in the music icon’s life.
Staff were scared of the out of control pet, who wore nappies around the star’s home.
