KELL PLANS TRIBUTE

- By CHRIS McKENNA

KELL BROOK is hoping to bring some smiles to a grieving nation when he faces unbeatean Errol Spence Jnr at Bramall Lane tomorrow.

The IBF welterweight champion believes Sheffield will pay its own tribute to the victims of the horrific Manchester attack. And at yesterday’s final press conference in his home town, Brook revealed he knew people inside the Manchester Arena at the time. He said: “It has been heartbreaking, waking up and hearing about it. I’ve got kids and, when they get older, they will get into music and want to go to these concerts. Being in Manchester, not far from here, has trebled the impact. It just goes through you that things like this can happen. “I did know some people who were there, friends of mine, but they were OK. “But what they have had to go through and see is horrible.” Matchroom Sport and South Yorkshire Police ® will provide extra security tomorrow, with 27,000 expected at Sheffield United’s home ground.

There will be a minute’s silence before George Groves’ fight for the WBA super-middleweight title against Fedor Chudinov on the undercard, as the sport pays tribute to the victims.

Brook said: “Saturday is about Sheffield coming together for one night, turning everything that happened into a positive.

“This can be a great night and we can show that you have to get up every day and keep going.

“After such a downer like that I just want to give something back.”

Brook faces unbeaten challenger Spence Jnr in his first fight since he was stopped by Gennady Golovkin last September.
