WHAT’S HOT TO WATCH TODAY

- MIKE WARD

I KNOW she does her best, bless her, but is it any wonder that Sharon Osbourne looks so unimpressed by the acts she gets to see on The X Factor?

I mean, let’s face it, none of them would ever pull the sort of mental old rock star stunt her Ozzy once performed in front of record company execs in the early 80s.

“Ozzy comes, as the man of peace,” she recalls, in a documentary going out on BBC Four tonight, “with two live doves in his pocket, but when we get there the people from the record company are less than friendly.

“Ozzy goes to sit on a girl’s lap but she freezes and pushes him away. And I don’t know why, but he takes out the first dove and decides to put it in his mouth and bite its head off.

“The record label went nuts, obviously. They were disgusted. But at the end of it they knew who was boss – and it wasn’t them…”

Well, quite. SHARON OSBOURNE PRESENTS ROCK & ROLL’S DODGIEST DEALS (10pm) is a look at how rock and pop acts, since pretty much the dawn of time, have been at war with the music business’ money-grabbing execs. These included her dad, a nutjob called Don Arden, who once dealt with a rival by dangling him from his office window. ELSEWHERE tonight, Jack looks set to take drastic action in EASTENDERS (8pm, BBC1), while Ken reckons he’s finally figured out who attacked him in CORONATION STREET (7.30pm & 8.30pm, ITV). OH, and I nearly forgot. Guest hosting HAVE I GOT NEWS
