Drug scandal of BGT dance star

Joker Cormac was in ‘seedy’ gang

- by PETER DYKE

A BRITAIN’S Got Talent semi-finalist was arrested for possession of drugs.

Cormac Mohally from Irish comedy dance duo Lords Of Strut has admitted that in the past he experimented with illegal substances and was once arrested.

Some 10 million viewers saw the hilarious lycra-wearing lads perform on Saturday’s show. The news of Cormac’s past will shock the TV judges and other acts.

Cormac and his pal Cian Kinsella, who refer to themselves as Sean Tastic and Famous Seamus, did a 1980s style dance to A-ha’s hit Take On Me. Judge Simon Cowell hated them, but Amanda Holden told the pair: “We have never had anything like that before. I love you.”

And David Walliams was also enthralled by the duo, saying: “You are seriously funny.”

They are now through to the semi-finals and hope to capture the first prize of £250,000 and a slot on the Royal Variety Performance.

Stash

However, BGT bosses will be stunned to learn about Cormac’s past.

He dropped out of school at 16, ended up mixing with gangs and started using drugs.

Matters came to a head when he was arrested by police after being caught with a stash.

He admits: “Conventional schooling was just not for me. After that, I guess I just fell through the cracks of it.

“I got into some trouble, I experimented with drugs and I was arrested for possession of narcotics. “It really showed me the seedier side of crime.” Following his brush with the law, Cormac decided to do something positive and learned acrobatics, which he claims helped him “get himself together”. The performer from Cork met Cian a few years ago and they formed Lords Of Strut.

The duo have since performed in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Europe and America.

Now he reckons the only “high’’ he gets is from his stage shows.

He adds: “I love it when you get a good reaction from the crowd. Applause is like a drug.”

A spokesman for BGT said: “No comment.”
