EDERSON is on a mission to turn Manchester City into serial winners after completing his £35m move.

City yesterday finally confirmed the signing of the Brazilian from Benfica – for a world record fee for a goalkeeper.

Ederson passed a medical at the Etihad last week before agreeing personal terms.

But the deal was held up over issues regarding the South American’s third party ownership.

Now the move has been completed and announced after both the FA and Premier League ratified the paperwork.

Amazing

And Ederson, 23, is relishing the chance to work with Pep Guardiola and help him win trophies. He said: “I like everything about Manchester City.

“This is a great club, they have amazing fans and they play splendid football.

“I have always had the dream to play in English football and now I’m going to make it true.

“With Pep Guardiola, City are growing more and more. He is putting in place a young team for the future. Those were important factors in making my decision.

“Manchester City has an amazing squad. I think they managed to have a good season. Next season, we will have to be focused to achieve the goal of winning trophies.”

Ederson will join up with Guardiola’s squad at the start of next month ahead of the side’s pre-season tour of America.

He will battle with Chilean international Claudio Bravo to be Guardiola’s No.1.

City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain said: “He is one of the best young goalkeepers in Europe and he is an important addition to the squad for next season and the coming seasons.

“He is young, has all the qualities you could want as a top-class goalkeeper, and I think he’ll fit in really well to our squad.”

Etihad bosses will now invite offers for out-of-favour England star Joe Hart, who is surplus to requirements.
