BRIT MUM: I STOPPED ‘MADDIE’ KIDNAPPER

Tot ‘dragged from her lap’

A BRIT mum stopped a woman from snatching her toddler from her lap at a hotel in Mallorca, it emerged yesterday.

Blaise Deacon said the mystery blonde “put her arms around” 23-month-old daughter Darcie and said she was taking her.

But the cleaning firm boss grabbed hold of her child and refused to let her go.

When she could not drag the youngster away, the Madeleine McCann-style kidnapper ran to a waiting car and fled the HYV Eurocalas Hotel in Calas de Mallorca on the island’s east coast.

Yesterday police hunting the woman were studying CCTV footage of the incident.

Blaise, 27, posted a message on Facebook to warn other holidaymakers about the abduction attempt.

The ordeal happened on the second day of a sunshine break with her sister Kealy and partner George Dixon. Blaise wrote: “A lady approached us at around 11pm as my daughter was on my lap. “The lady put her arms around her telling us that she was taking her. But I held on tight as my sister told her no. “When the women realised she wasn’t getting her she took off running. I chased her and she ran out of the hotel into a car.’’ Blaise, from Biggin Hill, near Bromley, Kent, claimed staff initially refused to call the police fearing it would make the hotel look bad. She contacted them herself and spent two hours being interviewed by detectives. The next day police returned and spoke to staff. The mum added: “The police were excellent and even came up to our room to check on Darcie and make sure she was OK. “From what we understand they have a match of the suspect and are now looking for her. “We didn’t change hotels because, with the police involved, we felt safer. I turned to Facebook to warn people coming out or already here to keep a closer eye on kids.’’
