HAMMO ‘TOOK MASSIVE RISKS’
THE winner of the race in which Richard Hammond crashed an electric supercar says the smash “would not have happened to a real professional”.
Marcel Steiner accused Hammond of taking “massive risks” in the event in Switzerland.
The Swiss driver, who won the event, said he and other professional racers meticulously studied the track in advance.
He said: “Superheroes like Hammond, on the other hand, only appear shortly beforehand at the track and thereby take massive risks.”
Hammond broke his knee in the smash and crawled out of the Rimac Concept One vehicle just before it burst into flames.
As he recovered in hospital he said he had been “a colossal idiot”. He flew home to the UK yesterday but could face disciplinary action from race bosses.
