I JUST can’t warm to my daughter’s latest boyfriend. I feel he’s sneaky and untrustworthy.

She is 19 and was very innocent before she met him. Now she’s drinking, having sex and staying out late. She’s simply not my little girl any more, which is such a shame.

How do I loosen his grip over her when she claims to adore him?

JANE SAYS: Of course you’re entitled to ask your daughter to be considerate and careful. Hopefully you’ve instilled good values in her and she knows right from wrong, but you can’t wrap her in cotton wool.

This is her time now. If you fear that her boyfriend is a dangerous control freak then speak to her in private about her safety and self-respect.

She has to know that you’ll always be there for her.
