2.30 JERSEY STAKES

A Group Three for three-year-olds over seven furlongs. First run in 1919 it was named after the 4th Earl of Jersey. A race where horses experience Group company for the first time. Leading jockey with rides at this year’s meeting: no current jockey has won more than once. Leading trainer with runners at this year’s meeting: Sir Michael Stoute (5 wins). Notable winners: 1989 Zilzal, 2001 Mozart, 2016 Ribchester.

3.05 QUEEN MARY STAKES

A Group Two for two-year-old fillies run over five furlongs. Establishe­d in 1921 it was named after Queen Mary. It was promoted to its current status in 2004. A race where trainers will try out a highly-rated youngster. Leading jockey: no current jockey has won more than once. Leading trainer: Mick Channon, Wesley Ward (3 wins). Notable winners: 1941 Sun Chariot, 1991 Marling, 2003 Attraction, 2016 Lady Aurelia.

3.40 DUKE OF CAMBRIDGE STAKES

A Group Two for four-year-old fillies and mares and older, run over a mile. Introduced in 2004, it was originally called the Windsor Forest Stakes before being renamed in 2013 in honour of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge. A race which encourages top-class fillies who have stayed on in training. Leading jockey: Ryan Moore

(2 wins). Leading trainer: Sir Michael Stoute (4 wins). Notable winners: 2006 Soviet Song, 2014 Integral, 2016 Usherette.

4.20 PRINCE OF WALES’S STAKES

A Group One for four-year-olds and older over a mile and two furlongs. First run in 1862, it was named after the Prince of Wales and future monarch, King Edward VII. The race was promoted to Group One in 2000 with the minimum age raised to four. The race has the richest prize fund of the week and involves the best horses still in training. Leading jockey: Olivier Peslier (2 wins). Leading trainer: Saeed bin Suroor (4 wins). Notable winners: 1933 Hyperion, 1968 Royal Palace, 1969-70 Connaught, 1972 Brigadier Gerard, 1987-88 Mtoto, 2000 Dubai Millennium, 2001 Fantastic Light, 2006 Ouija Board, 2016 My Dream Boat.

5.00 ROYAL HUNT CUP

A Heritage handicap for three- year-olds and older over a mile. First run in 1843, it was originally competed on a right-handed course over an extended seven furlongs.

The current race distance was establishe­d in 1956 on the straight course. Four and five-year-olds have the best record in recent years with only one six-year-old winner in the past 15 years. Only two favourites have won since 1990. Leading jockey: James Doyle (2 wins). Leading trainer: John Gosden (2 wins). Notable winners: 2010 Master Vote, 2016 Portage.

5.35 SANDRINGHA­M STAKES

A Listed Class 1 handicap for three-year-old fillies over a mile. First run in 1879, it was originally called the Fern Hill Stakes until 2001. Leading jockey: Richard Kingscote, Jamie Spencer (2 wins). Leading trainer: John Gosden, Mark Johnston, Ed Dunlop, John Dunlop (2 wins)

Notable winners: 2006 Red Evie, 2010 Timepiece, 2016 Persuasive.
