Harris out to repay Rosco faith

-

CHRIS HARRIS admits he has a point to prove after forcing his way back into Great Britain’s starting line-up.

The Rye House star, 34, feared his chance of overtaking the late Lee Richardson as his country’s all-time leading World Cup scorer was over when he was axed for last year’s tournament after 23 successive appearances.

He said: “It hurt me a lot that I wasn’t in it because I felt I could still have done a good job. I wasn’t riding great but I always seem to have a good World Cup, I haven’t had many bad ones.

“It made me determined to work harder to get my spot back and I think that’s what I have done.”

A 15-point maximum at King’s Lynn on his last Premiership visit made it almost impossible for boss Alun Rossiter to leave him out again. Rosco said: “It was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make because Bomber had never let me down. “He always seems to step up when he has the three lions on his chest and I thought about it for a long time before deciding I had to go for the riders in form. I’ll admit that I wouldn’t have picked him if I had to name my team in the winter, but I’ve watched him this season and I didn’t hesitate to bring him back. And I know he won’t let us down.”

GB, runners-up in last year’s final at Belle Vue, take on Australia, USA and Czech Republic at King’s Lynn on Saturday.

Rivals Australia have been hit by injuries to current Grand Prix leader Jason Doyle and in-form Nick Morris.
