STARS HAS IT ON A PLATE

-

FLYMETOTHESTARS (3.30) who beat Endless Acres over two miles at Newcastle in May, can follow up in the Northumberland Plate over the same track and trip.

Endless Acres went on to run second to Thomas Hobson at Royal Ascot, so Sir Mark Prescott’s progressive stayer can cope with a 9lb rise in the ratings.

Early

He is well drawn in stall eight of 20 and jockey Luke Morris can get a nice early position around the inside.

James Fanshawe and Tom Queally teamed up to win with The Tin Man at Royal Ascot last Saturday and the odd couple can repeat the trick with MAZZINI (1.50) in the Betfred Handicap.

This sprinter was second off a rating of 89 at Chelmsford City on his last trip to the races so he should be on the premises off a revised rating of 90.

Sir Michael Stoute’s MIDTERM (2.05) was third in a Group Three affair at Newbury on his latest start and should be up to taking the Listed Fred Archer Stakes. The fact he still holds an entry in a Group One affair at Ascot at the end of the month tells us how highly his trainer rates him.

At the Curragh, WALDGEIST (5.20) can capture the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby for the brilliant Andre Fabre, who has won this race twice before.

Better

This colt was second in the French version behind Brametot at Chantilly over a mile and a quarter in June.

And I believe that form is better than the Epsom Classic in which today’s rivals Wings Of Eagles and Cracksman were first and third.

Wings Of Eagles will be ridden by Ryan Moore who replaces Padraig Beggy on the strongstaying Pour Moi colt.
