Killers’ right royal party...

HARRY ROCKS OUT

-

ROCK royalty The Killers partied with Prince Harry in London this weekend.

Our fifth in line to the throne went to British Summer Time in Hyde Park to check out one of his favourite bands close to his Kensington Palace home. I hooked up with Killers’ drummer

Ronnie Vannucci Jr 30 minutes before showtime.

He told me: “Harry is a friend of mine, he’s into drummers.”

I hear Harry went incognito to get as close to the action as possible.

The Killers were in fine form rocking 60,000 fans with Sam’s Town classics and a rarely aired cover of Joy Division’s Shadowplay.

Brandon Flowers, above right, and the lads have only released four full studio albums in 15 years and they are desperate to make up for lost time. Ronnie said: “I personally wouldn’t be happy with having what’s out there now on our epitaph. I think there’s a lot of water still left in the well. Just birthing another record feels incredible.”

That new album is Wonderful, Wonderful including disco-tastic single, The Man.

“We hope that people get the joke,” chuckled Ron. “It’s an ironic song.

“The Man is a curveball, there’s not another song on the record like it.

“There’s certainly a degree of sensitivity and heaviness to the album.

“It deals with a lot of looking back, introspection and becoming men I guess, in the modern sense of the word. Not the 21-year-old versions of us that thought we were men.”

Having curated the BST Hyde Park line-up with some of their favourite acts, The Killers would now like to start their own festival.

Ron added: “Absolutely – then we have a little bit more control about what bands we are playing with.” ¬ÊWonderful, Wonderful is out in September and the band tour the UK in November.
