Federer shows Dimitrov who’s the daddy

ROGER FEDERER put “Baby Fed” to bed and then claimed he felt fresh enough to do it all over again.

The Swiss star yesterday breezed his way to a 6-4 6-2 6-4 win in just 97 minutes against a below-par Grigor Dimitrov, who earned his nickname due to the resemblance in their playing styles.

But there were few similarities on Centre Court as Federer, 35, made it six wins out of six in matches ® between them. He has yet to drop a set in the tournament.

And after his knee problems 12 months ago, he couldn’t be in better shape ahead of tomorrow’s match against Milos Raonic, a repeat of last year’s semi-final.

The Canadian, who beat Federer that day, triumphed over the youngest player left in the men’s draw, Alexander Zverev, in five gruelling sets. Zverev, 20, was ahead two sets to one before Raonic came through 4-6 7-5 4-6 7-5 6-1.

Federer said: “I’ve not had the toughest of matches. I didn’t expect it to go that easy for me.

“So I can look at this quarter-final in totally relaxed fashion. Physically, I’m not fighting anything like last year with my knee.

“I’m ready to go now if I have to which is great. But I don’t have to and that’s a bonus. And the good thing is I am not trying to heal something like last year.”

Federer refuses to talk up his chances of an eighth Wimbledon crown despite winning the Australian Open in January – his first major title in five years.

He added: “This is going to be a tough match. That’s why I can’t think too far ahead.”

Earlier, Tomas Berdych beat No.8 seed Dominic Thiem 6-3 6-7 6-3 3-6 6-3.
