SIMPSON WAITS

- By PAUL BROWN

WORLD CUP-winning boss Paul Simpson STILL does not know if he has a future with the FA.

The former Carlisle and Preston boss guided England Under-20s to glory in South Korea last month – the nation’s first win on a global stage since 1966.

But Simpson, 50, has been given no assurances by the FA and is waiting to hear if they intend to keep him on.

He said: “The FA are going from JEREMY CROSS in Los Angeles personal training schedule and ordered him to sort himself out once and for all. But Shaw’s problems went from bad to worse just over 12 months later when he suffered an horrific double-leg break in a Champions League game in Holland. He missed the rest of the season and struggled with niggling problems and illnesses last season when Jose Mourinho took charge. It led to the new United ® to sit down over the next couple of weeks. I want to just stay in a job!

“I’ve really enjoyed it and we’ve got some good players coming through. I think I’ve shown people I can do something with the team.

“My role with England is to try to get the best group of players together I can, whichever age group I’m going to be with.” manager criticising him more than once to put his United future in doubt. Mourinho questioned his attitude, positioning and basic understanding of the game.

And, following a 1-1 draw at Everton in April, he claimed it had been “his body with my brain’’ that had allowed him to impress as a substitute.

Stricken

Shaw’s constant absence from the side since arriving has forced various managers to pick different stars in the left-back slot.

The likes of Matteo Darmian, Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo and even Ashley Young have filled in.

But with Shaw close to recovering
