Real bit of aggro

- by JEREMY CROSS

MANCHESTER United and Real Madrid are at war once again.

The clubs, who have a history of bad blood, are in America for a pre-season tournament.

Both are based in Los Angeles – and Real and United officials have been arguing over which hotels and training pitches to use.

Jose Mourinho’s United squad are staying in the Montage Beverly Hills and other

club representatives in the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

Real were keen on both but have now decided to stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Sunset Boulevard and arrived last night.

Both clubs are also using the facilities at UCLA and will be training less than 200 yards apart.

Organisers of the International Champions Cup tournament have been left stunned that two of the biggest clubs in world football are at each other’s throats.

The situation has been described as ‘embarrassing’ as the clubs look to gain an advantage in their pre-season preparations. The latest ruck guarantees to create a poisonous atmosphere when Mourinho comes up against his old club later this month.

United will face Real in Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium on July 23 and the two sides will also meet in next month’s Super Cup Final.

The fall out comes as no surprise considering the ill-feeling that exists between the rivals.

It all started back in 2008 when ex-United boss Sir Alex Ferguson insisted he did not trust the Spanish outfit and ‘wouldn’t sell them a virus’. Relations sank to an all-time low in 2015 when David De Gea’s move to the Bernabeu collapsed at the 11th-hour.
